The GRACE Center is excited to introduce
our Program Director and Head Conductor, Erika Bartos.
Erika attended the International Peto Institute in Budapest, Hungary
from 1996 to 2000. She completed her training in working with children
and adults with various motor disabilities (cerebral palsy, Parkinson
disease, multiple sclerosis, etc.) and graduated from the Peto
Institute in 2000 as a certified conductor/ teacher.
During her college experience she worked privately for families
with children with CP in England and in Hungary. She also worked
for the National Institute for Conductive Education in Birmingham,
England as a teacher/conductor in their school age class during
the summer of 2001.
Erika first came to the United States in August 2001and began working
in Minnesota as a conductor/ teacher at the Minnesota Center for
Conductive Education. Three years later, she and her husband Peter
Bartos, along with partner Jeremy Eby, started a new organization
called International Institute for Conductive Education, Inc. in
the Twin Cities area of Minnesota.
September 2004, Erika traveled to South Carolina to begin working
with Hannah Reed. The Bartos then agreed to move their company
IICE, Inc. to South Carolina and provide their professional conductive
education services to The GRACE Center in January 2005.
The two organizations, The GRACE Center and the International Institute
for Conductive Education, have the goal of working together to
provide conductive education in the Low Country. We will also function
as an information resource for families with children with motor
disabilities. For more information about the International Institute
for Conductive Education, Inc. please visit their web site:
